Meet the photographer

My little girl said to me the other day, "Mom, what's it like to be you?" A million things ran through my mind! But the quickest and most honest answer I could come up with was, "Blessed, baby! I'm very blessed for so many reasons. One, is because I get to be your mama!" She giggled and replied, "I wanna be just like you when I grow up!" If you're a mama, you know that my heart swelled right then and there! There are so many adjectives I could use to describe myself, both negative and positive, but even after I had time to think about it more, blessed was a perfect answer. My life is certainly not perfect, but I honestly cannot complain!

I am a former labor and deliver nurse turned into a newborn photographer! How on earth? Well, the short version is that my love for photography and newborns collided about 8 years into my nursing career and BOOM, here I am!

"This is my passion. This is my purpose. This is what I was made to do."

I'd venture to guess that your birthday, like your actual BIRTH day is the only true ONCE IN A LIFETIME event you'll have in your life. You literally cannot do it again. This is what makes it so special to capture. The tiny toes, the squishy baby back fat (my absolute fave), the happiest big bro or sister holding you, your mom glowing in my lens while holding you (we don't have to tell anyone that that's probably just postpartum sweat, ha!). What I wouldn't give to be able to go back and look at all the moments of me! My generation isn't that lucky though! We got the lay flat on your back and squeeze your eyes closed because of these extremely bright lights and there ya go! There's you as a newborn.

Luckily, newborn photography evolved...or became, not sure you can ever say that was "newborn photography". Now, we have the luxury of freezing all of these special moments within those first weeks of life. Images that will be passed down from generation to generation comparing to a new baby in the distant future, "Oh wow, she's a spitting image of her great grandmother!" I mean how cool, right? Aside from the adorable, human squish you bring me, this is what I love most! It's freezing these precious moments for you and generations to come that bring me to the studio every day! I GET TO do that for you!
